The Experienced Course for operating an articulated dumper is designed for experienced construction plant operators to enhance their skills and receive certification for their achievements. This comprehensive plant training and assessment program provides participants with the opportunity to demonstrate their proficiency, knowledge, and attitudes associated with plant operations.
The course begins with an introduction, including registration and induction activities conducted at the start of the day to familiarize participants with the course objectives and expectations.
Candidates then undergo a 3-hour training session with the course instructor, focusing on refining their existing skills and addressing any areas of improvement.
Following the corrective training, candidates are required to complete a 45-minute theory test. The multi-choice question paper covers various subjects, including:
- Legislation and regulations
- Employer and employee responsibilities
- Safe working practices
- Machine components and functions
- Correct operating techniques
- Pre-use checks and basic maintenance
- Road travel (where permitted)
- Types and characteristics of materials and loads
- Construction safety, and shutdown and securing procedures.
The subjects covered in the corrective training will form the basis for the test questions.
The practical test assesses the candidate's ability to perform tasks with the articulated dumper within a maximum time limit. This test evaluates their practical skills and application of knowledge learned during the course.
Upon meeting the required standard, NCTS Ltd will forward the assessment documentation to Solas for certification and registration.
The course also accommodates specific assessment requirements, such as the need for a translator, reader/writer, or other forms of special assistance, ensuring equal opportunities for all participants.

1. Have at least six months full time construction experience operating the item of Plant. The six months experience must be within a two year period.
