Course Description

The Slinger Signaller/Banksman New Entrant Course is a comprehensive three-day program designed to equip individuals with the necessary skills and knowledge to become competent in this important role. As a slinger signaller/banksman, you will play a vital part in ensuring the safe and efficient movement of loads on construction sites and other work environments.

During Day 1, the course will begin with a thorough site induction, familiarizing participants with site-specific safety protocols. The safe operation of plant machinery will be reviewed, and an introduction to the equipment involved will be provided.

Day 2 focuses on practical training. Participants will learn to inspect lifting gear and understand the certification requirements for cranes and lifting equipment. Additionally, they will be trained in the use of hand signals and two-way radios, essential communication tools for coordinating lifting operations. The day will also cover the determination of the number of lifts to be carried out.

On Day 3, participants will further develop their practical skills in operating the machinery. They will learn more advanced techniques and will undergo a one-hour practical assessment to demonstrate their proficiency.

Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive a New Entrant (provisional) operators card and log book. This certification allows them to gain supervised experience on-site over the specified period. This course provides a solid foundation for individuals aspiring to excel as slinger signallers/banksmen and ensures they can contribute to the safe and efficient execution of lifting operations.

Requirements:
1. Have at least three months general construction site experience

2. Be at least 18 years of age
3. Must have completed Safe Pass
