The Experienced Course for Tractor Dozer is a comprehensive one-day training program designed specifically for experienced construction plant operators. This course aims to enhance their skills and provide certification in the safe operation of a tractor dozer. The program follows a plant training and assessment framework that recognizes the achievements of experienced operators and allows them to demonstrate their skills, knowledge, and attitudes associated with plant operations.
The course begins with an Introduction session where participants undergo registration and induction. This ensures that they are familiarized with the course objectives and expectations right from the start.
The training component consists of a 3-hour training session conducted by the course instructor. This session focuses on refining the existing skills of the experienced operators and addressing any areas that require improvement.
Following the corrective training, candidates undertake a Theory Test. This test comprises a multi-choice question paper that covers various subjects related to plant operations. These subjects include;
- Legislation and regulations
- Employer and employee responsibilities
- Safe working practices
- Machine components and functions
- Correct operating techniques
- Pre-use checks and basic maintenance
- Road travel (where permitted)
- Types and characteristics of materials and loads
- Construction safety, and shut down and securing procedures.
The questions are based on the topics covered during the corrective training.
During the Practical Test, candidates demonstrate their proficiency in performing tasks specific to operating a tractor dozer. The practical test has a maximum time limit within which all tasks must be completed.
If a candidate meets the required standard, NCTS Ltd, the training provider, will send the relevant assessment documentation to Solas for certification and registration. This ensures that successful candidates receive recognized certification for their achievements.
Candidates with specific assessment requirements, such as the need for a translator, reader/writer, or other special needs, are encouraged to inform NCTS Ltd well in advance of attending the program.
